Morrisons wanted to encourage applications from a more diverse pool of people but recognised that there were some barriers in the application process. For instance, many candidates for roles at the company’s stores, factories and warehouses may not have a CV or English may not be their first language. Morrisons felt it was important that the candidate journey should be seamless and accessible despite these challenges and furthermore, that they wanted to empower and provide candidates with tools to find employment not just in Morrisons but also elsewhere should they need/want to.

Our idea came from one simple concept – everyone knows how to chat online. From this, we created the Morribot, a CV builder chatbot. Applicants wouldn’t require anything other than a phone to answer a few simple questions, the answer of which then form and create a professional, downloadable and unbranded CV which can be used to apply for any roles outside of Morrisons.

The custom-built Morribot also includes a job match tool so candidates can simply ask it to find suitable roles at Morrisons – making it much simpler to find the jobs they’re best suited to.
