What brought you to employer branding?
I started my career as a front end web developer, working for several consumer ad agencies before falling into the wonderful world of recruitment advertising and employer branding back in 2006. Since then we've seen huge changes in the way businesses find and retain good people, largely for the better and sorting through the hype to find the stuff that's actually useful is half the fun.
Tell us about a project that you feel proud of.
Probably one of the more left field projects we've undertaken, way back in 2013 we built an Augmented Reality game for the Arriva Graduate Scheme induction. It took what had been a 4 hour session of being talked at and turned it into a frenetic AR treasure hunt across their office. It was amazingly well received, and as well as using new technology also involved finding and interviewing senior people and presenting back to the wider group.
It was a perfect mix of style and substance, bringing learning, presentation skills and some shiny technology together to make a great impression. And given that 8 years later in 2021, Augmented Reality is still being touted as the next big thing, it was, dare I say it, a little bit ahead of its time too!
If you had to sum Chatter up in three words what would they be?
Talented. Thoughtful. Teamwork.
When you’re not working, what gets you out of bed on a weekend?
Who says I get out of bed on the weekend? Unless it's for a gig, theatre or a musical of course!
