Convergence Group are one of the fastest growing and most exciting connectivity companies you’ve (probably) never heard of. At least not yet, anyway...
Since they set up shop in sunny Brum back in 2004, they’ve been making a huge impact on the UK’s networking sector. In fact, their vision is ‘to be the leading supplier of data network services in the UK’, and with last year’s acquisition of Networks First, they’re well on their way to realising it.
But what’s even more exciting is that they’re about to make the same kind of impact in the recruitment comms space too with a new employer brand – thanks to a bit of switched on creativity from us.
It all began when Franki jumped on board earlier this year as People and Culture Director, and we kicked things off with our EVP research tool, HUME, to help the business define the nuts and bolts of their offer.
With that box ticked, we went full steam ahead and developed a new employer brand – that we call Hardwired – which brings their ‘fast and furious’ culture to life. And with the kind of art direction that celebrates their down to earth, ‘started from the bottom and now we’re here’ story... you know you're gonna want to watch this space!
Amongst all the madness, we managed to grab 5 with Franki for the usual Chatter grilling…
How did you get into the HR industry?
Mmm, it was after a decade in Operations that I realised that the big dial movers were the people. Without great people, businesses are average at best, so I decided to complete my masters in HR and move over to the dark side! As for the tech industry, I’ve always done retail or hospitality, it was Mr Harrison (that’s Neal – the boss!) himself that enticed me in to joining the tech industry, he’s a born salesman!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?
Never compromise your own integrity; it will cause sleepless nights for a lifetime.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the HR sector?
Keep things simple and be respectful. Remember the impact you can have on people’s lives.
What’s the best thing about working with Chatter?
Their ability to translate my scatterbrain thoughts into reality without any fuss!
What are you reading, watching and listening to at the moment?
I’m reading The Girl in the Spiders Web (Stig Larssons/David Lagercrantz), watching Billions (to see how it’s done!) and listening to Tracy Chapman – I just found it on Apple Music, and love the album.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Any marvel, star wars, X men films - I love them all!
Three words to describe yourself?
Driven, determined and small!
What fact would surprise people about you?
I’m a trained sports masseur… rusty but true!
