2020: Three weeks in and counting…

By Chatter, on 22nd January 2020

This article is over a year old. We've probably got some more recent, relevant content than this - why not check out the latest on what we think?

While the year (and the decade…eek!) is still pretty new, we’re continuing to check in with our lovely clients to find out what their plans for 2020 look like. Clive Smart at Sky Betting and Gaming, who spent 2019 launching innovative ideas like a ‘Time Back As Cash’ incentive, is looking forward to smashing out another amazing year with the SBG recruitment team whilst tackling a few key challenges such as the constant shortage of top Tech & Digital Talent in the North of England: "it’s great to see new names coming to Leeds such as Channel 4 and it’s only going to help everyone make the North of England and Yorkshire such an attractive place to work”.

Alice Scott from Austin Fraser told us that her highlights of 2019 were winning Role Model of the year at the Women in Business Awards, and getting her toddler to sleep in his own bed (we’ll leave you to decide which was the toughest). And that her new year is all about seeing her amazing team stomp all over their personal and professional goals whilst the company maintains their position as one of the Best Companies to work for (and continues to grow their offices around the world). Looks like 2020 is going to be another busy year!

We also caught up with Grace Perry at EMIS, whose 2019 was all about developing an Apprentice programme and recruiting a 50/50 gender split, with more of the same in 2020.

2019 was also a great year for Louise Oxley Daniels from Morrisons. She told us that her team have killed it again with their direct hire figures of 88%, which is a fantastic result for a business of Morrisons’ size and scale. In 2020, she’s focusing hard on driving a proactive talent acquisition model and making the candidate journey even better.

And finally, we bumped into Claire Fuller from StepChange. Her proudest moment of 2019 was delivering the organisation’s first ever Graduate Programme. After receiving almost 1000 applications, she recruited 7 brand new graduates into the charity across 7 departments in a rotational 2 year programme. As for 2020, it’s all about the design & launch of StepChange’s first ever external Apprenticeship programme in Sept 2020 and getting our name out into the Leeds market place (and further afield across the UK).

We'd love to hear about your favourite moments from 2019, what you're most looking forward to in 2020 and what the hot topics are going to be.
