Yorkshire Day
Yorkshire is more than flat caps, whippets, puddings and tea. We’re a vibrant region that’s on the up-and-up. We’ve got loads of creative talent in the strong film and TV sector. There’s the largest financial and legal hub outside of the capital. And the thriving digital landscape is driving innovation across a host of sectors. On top of that is the abundance of talent coming out of the region’s universities!
And as a proud Yorkshire company, we wanted to find a fun and innovative way to celebrate this modern, thriving, innovative Yorkshire on the most important of days - Yorkshire Day!
How smart speakers could be used
Which is why we started playing around with Smart Speakers. The Yorkshire Accent Quiz is just a bit of fun, put together with a mix of sticky tape and grit to help promote and celebrate Yorkshire Day. As an employer branding agency we help companies attract, recruit and engage with their talent. So we’re dead excited about how this technology could be used for job seekers in the future.
It could be used to make searching for a job more accessible for a broader range of candidates. It could help first time job seekers practice their job interview skills. Or it could give new employees the chance to meet their team before they start. And we’re only just scratching the surface of the possibilities.
Current UK recruitment market
But why all this effort? Well, the recruitment market in the UK is incredibly competitive. According to Hiring Lab Unemployment and inactivity are at their lowest levels for more than four decades, and the employment rate is still marching upwards. Hiring and retaining the best talent is a challenge for companies. So finding innovative ways to stand out from the competition is vital in order to reach the best candidates.
We’re always looking for new ways to use emerging technology, from chatbots that help you find out more about a business’s culture to tours of an office using cardboard VR headsets. And we’ll be on the end of the phone if there’s anything we can help you with!
