O2 pride themselves for being an inclusive place to work. A diverse group of individuals meeting the needs of a diverse group of customers. Simple.
They strongly believe that it is a necessity to set an example of an open-minded business in order to lead to a strong and diverse workforce. Bringing equal opportunities to employees of any walk of life. It’s just how they roll.
As proud supporters of the LGBTQ Network, O2 celebrate the talent and unique ideas that their employees bring to the workplace. Their Women’s Network promotes that, regardless of gender, background or race, everyone deserves to feel empowered and supported. Both at home and in the workplace. It’s in their DNA, and it’s in ours too.
Fresh from a month of partying with O2 at Pride across the country, we thought it was about time we caught up with Lyndsey, Resourcing Business Partner, for the usual Chatter lowdown…
How did you get into the HR industry?
I fell into it. I was at uni and decided to temp over the summer. The agency I registered with asked me to work with them during the summer doing admin work and then during that time asked if I would like to look after a temp desk and become a recruitment consultant. So I decided not to return to uni and that is how my career in recruitment started.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?
The best piece of advice I have ever been given is to believe in yourself and what you can achieve. Nothing is impossible if you have the drive, the tenacity and ambition to succeed.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the HR sector?
HR to me is all about relationships; therefore, effective communication and listening skills are key. If you can manage stakeholders and have strong relationships then I believe that is a great foundation for a career in HR.
What’s the best thing about working with Chatter?
The people. They understand our business and what we are all about and they are all lovely people who I really enjoy working with. Their passion and commitment to deliver is second to none.
What are you reading, watching and listening to at the moment?
I have started reading James Patterson books, which I am really enjoying, so the book I am reading at the moment is called Jack and Jill. I listen to a wide variety of music but recently it is Bros as I went to see them in the O2 on the 19th August, which was just amazing. Last time I saw them I was 14 so it took me back to my teenage years. I am watching Nashville at the moment. Love the programme and the music.
