Everything you’ve always wanted to know about the brains behind the brands and the… umm… talent that can help you get the most from today’s digital world.
Each issue we introduce you to some of the clever people who make our business tick, and this month it’s Ben, our resident stats and data Chatterino.
Ben’s a bit of a self-confessed music nerd, and actually studied a music production degree in Manchester before landing here at the Roost. He’s originally from Leeds, but heard about an account exec role here at Chatter when he was still in Manchester, which was two flippin’ years ago now!
After taking the job (obvs!), he ended up commuting from his flat in Salford Quays to Leeds every morning for a while which was exhausting, especially over winter. But, more recently he’s moved back to Leeds with his girlfriend where they’ve actually just bought their first place. Exciting stuff!
He’s recently switched roles to data and reporting so we can expand our learnings from previous campaigns and use that knowledge to help us inform new campaigns.
And now that he’s not commuting for 25 hours a day, we caught up with Ben to find out what floats his boat…
If you could watch, listen to and own one thing for the rest of your life, what would they be?
If I could only watch one thing for the rest of my life it would have to be either the Bojack Horseman series or the Rick and Morty Series - both of which are absolutely amazing.
If I could only listen to one thing for the rest of my life it would have to be Bon Iver's self titled album from 2011. It was the follow up to the album Justin Vernon recorded (at least almost) entirely in a log cabin secluded from humanity. It's an absolute rollercoaster collection of tracks which seem to be largely named after places like Calgary, Minnesota, Perth and Lisbon to name a few. Justin uses some really interesting sounds outside of typical instruments a lot in this album; listen out for the sound of what to me feels like a dock of a fishing town right at the beginning of the album in Perth.
If I could only own one thing for the rest of my life - It would make sense to be practical about it and say something like a bed, or food or something - but I think If the only thing I owned was my piano - perhaps I'd practice more! Haha!
