Everything you’ve always wanted to know about the brains behind the brands and the… umm… talent that can help you get the most from today’s digital world.
Each issue we introduce you to some of the clever people who make our business tick. This month it’s the newest recruits to our in house creative team, AKA the dynamic duo better known as Jonny and Robynn.
Jonny
My creative journey started at church when I was about 13 or 14, where I was introduced to live visuals and media by the media team that volunteered at the church. I started creating graphics during my IT lessons at school and the rest is history. Since then, I’ve worked with small businesses and companies who target the young people's market, and this along with my portfolio helped me bag the job here at Chatter along with Robyn.
In my spare time, I'm involved in a lot of volunteer music projects through my church where I help teach young people to sing and play instruments. Later this year, a song I wrote and recorded is going on an album that's being released in June so I will officially be a recording artist! I also really love fashion and other forms of design, and
it's always good to stay in touch with (and be inspired by!) what is going on creatively across all mediums.
Watch: Brooklyn 99, there are 4 seasons, which is a great start, and they never get old. I think I'm on my 5th watch through now and I still belly laugh at every joke!
Read: My bible - I love the direction and inspiration it brings and lets face it, it's probably the best selling book of all time, so all those people can't be wrong!
Own: A lucrative piece of real estate, so I can have a constant stream of income that allows me to rent everything that I need!
Robynn
I started my design career about seven years ago, freelancing for local bars and restaurants in Hull. Back then, like anyone starting out in the industry, it was all about building up my portfolio to help me land my first agency job.
It didn’t take me long, and that first role involved designing mostly for retail clients like shopping centres together with quite a few clothing brands. But what was really nice about it was that I also picked up lots of experience of working with corporate clients, too.
However, after three and a half years, I decided that it was time for a change – and, I also wanted to get a bit more variety in my portfolio in terms of the kind of clients I work with and the types of work I was doing.
So, I made the move to Leeds to look for bigger and better opportunities, found myself starting at Chatter at the same time as Jonny, and the rest is history!
Watch: I can't narrow it down to just one, that's not fair! But my favourite TV show is The 100, so I'd have to go with that.
Read: Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk.
Own: My PS4 - as long as Fallout 4 came with it.
