This month, we’ve been getting our Yorkshire on for Yorkshire Day, Jon’s have been getting up to mischief at Pride Manchester, and we’re all getting ready to get down at the RBAs in September.
So, get the news from the Roost right here…
Ey up, it's Yorkshire Day!
We don't enforce the Chatter dress code policy very often, but on the 1st of August it was compulsory flat caps all round. Why? Tsk, as if you have to ask. It was only bloody Yorkshire Day!
We celebrated in style with a canal side BBQ in the kind of rain that gets you reet wet. We held a big Yorkshire quiz with an even bigger hamper full of Yorkshire bait for the winner (we’re talking Wensleydale, Parkin, a bottle of Yorkshire Blonde, Pontefract cakes and last but not least, a gut busting bag of Yorkshire Mixture). And we annoyed our neighbours with all the Yorkshire classics blasting out on the Sonos including Mamma Mia, the ABBA classic about a boy telling his mam that he’s arrived home, and Ice Cream Man by Van Halen - y’know, the one about visiting the pharmacist for your haemorrhoids treatment (think about it).
Any honourable Yorkshireman – or woman – would have done the same...
Chatter loves pride
Every year, August bank holiday sees Manchester taken over by tens of thousands of people, hundreds of thousands of flags, and millions of sequins. And they wouldn't have it any other way!
Well this year was no different... The gay village was transformed, the likes of Faithless and Pixie Lott took to the stage, and the world famous parade brought the party to the streets. The whole thing ended with a moving candlelit vigil, embracing all things diversity and showing support for LGBQT communities around the world.
Our friends from O2 were there, ending their 2017 Pride road trip in style. Armed with confetti cannons, a whole host freebies and a live stream of all the #O2prideparty fun from the big blue bus, it’s safe to say they shared the love.
Jon was there too, doing us proud with Chatter flags.
We’ve already got it in the diary for 2018…
Keep ‘em crossed
So, it’s that time of year, and once again we’re off to the Recruitment Business Awards over t’hill in Manchester on September 7th. Last year’s entertainment hit a high note with a heady mix of a brass brand and 90s club classics, and this year… well, we’ll just have to wait and see. As for after hours, rumour has it that Chinese Charlie's Karaoke Bar has shut up shop for good. Probably for the best, but it means we’ll need a new plan for the rest of the night. Any suggestions?
In the meantime, fingers crossed that we come away with an award (or two, or three, or even four!) for Best Campaign for Shop Direct, Best Copy for Sky Betting & Gaming (Ask Jeff), Best Innovation for Sky Betting & Gaming (Jeff again!) and Best Website for Morrisons. Keep ‘em crossed.
