This month, we’ve celebrated Pauls 40th, Charlotte and Alf’s time in the Roost, the arrival of our new creative director John and account manager Emma, and our haul of awards at the RMAs in London. We need a lie down.
How to stretch a birthday out, by Paul Ainley, aged 40
July is a big month for birthdays here in the Roost, but much to the resident Queen of Birthdays’ disappointment (Charlotte!), this year was all about one man and his never ending 40th…
So, picture the Roost in full on surprise party mode, with flockers, family and friends, a playlist by resident DJ Ben, balloons, bunting, and a table filled with everything that should really excite someone who was born way, way back in the 70’s. We’re talking jelly and ice cream, egg and cress sandwiches, a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, and party rings. And we even got our hands on a bottle of Cinzano. Tasty.
And if that wasn’t enough, Paul, Lisa and Jon then jetted off to Mallorca to keep the celebrations going, culminating in an all night bender in Magaluf. Nothing like stretching a birthday out, eh Paul? Hope you had a good one – we certainly did!
And they’re off!
It’s been all change in the roost recently. We said goodbye to Charlotte, who discovered that the pull of the Steel city was stronger than she thought, ‘cos she’s off to join a Mansfield based agency as a Project manager.
And we also said goodbye to the tour de force that is Alf, who made his grand depart 3 years to the day since he joined Chatter (where did those years go, dude?!). He’s off to South America for 5 months of travelling, soul searching and beard growing… and we’re all insanely jealous.
Good luck guys!
But it’s not all sad news… this month we also said a big hello to our new creative director, John, and our new account manager, Emma. So watch this space for a future Meet the Chatterinos interview.
A headful of hangovers and a hatful of gongs at the RMAs
July also saw us down in the big smoke en masse for the RMAs at The Brewery. And along with a collection of sore heads, we came home with a couple of well-deserved first places for our work with Sky Betting & Gaming, which demonstrated our employee engagement chops.
First off, we won the Best Recruitment Site Under £50k award, against the likes of M&S, WHSmiths and Swinton Insurance. And we also nabbed the Technology Innovation award which was a new category for 2017, against the likes of Virgin and Nandos, for our work on the infamous Ask Jeff recruitment chatbot.
Oh, and Ask Jeff also picked up a nomination for copywriting too – but unfortunately his banter went just wide of the post this time. He talks about Hartlepool United too much, we reckon!
On top of that, Lisa took to the stage - no, not to do *that*! – to present the Best Video Above £10k award to the British Army. Easy, soldier.
And we all got a bit giddy about seeing the Chase’s Sinnerman in the flesh. So much so that we ended up in a dodgy bar in Soho drinking a bunch of spirits whose names we couldn’t pronounce. By the end of the night, we all sounded a bit like Ask Jeff ourselves!
