I fell into recruitment communications over 25 years ago after a spell in a full service agency. And I loved it!
I’ve been about a bit. Started on a YTS many many years ago (social mobility at it’s finest) on a Communication, Advertising and Marketing Foundation Course and worked in an agency a few days per week while at college. Then I fell into full service agency life…recruitment advertising was growing and I ended up picking up that side of the business when someone left, and basically never left. I like people. I’m passionate about doing a great job. I love finding solutions to tough challenges. And I really like the creative process. But above all I like to champion the experience that people have engaging with a business, joining a business and being engaged with while they’re in it. It’s not rocket science (which is great because I’m not that bright!), but it’s really rewarding when you get it right.
I have a few. Working with the lovely Colin Watt Chatter client #001 on the people proposition for Telefónica I&D in Madrid. Travelled around Spain for a week conducting focus groups with Spanish speakers, only knowing a few words, but managing to get some great insight along the way. O2 Stores of the future was another. They were brave enough to try something different. And appreciated the need to recruit a different type of person who didn’t focus on the sale, but focused on giving customers a great experience. Far more sales through service. It was game changing at the time and we created pop up experience centres for the recruitment process in London and Manchester worked collaboratively with the o2 team, Cute and Cielo and it was a great success.
