Building Better Access Together
At Chatter, we believe great workplaces are built when people feel truly seen, heard and supported - not just managed. That’s why we were excited to work with Yorkshire Building Society to create their Accessibility Passport - a practical tool that helps colleagues share what they need to thrive.
This wasn’t an off-the-shelf solution. It was crafted in partnership, shaped by insight and rooted in real human experience. And now, we’ve made a version available that any organisation can use too - without barriers, sign-ups or friction.
What Is the Accessibility Passport?
The Accessibility Passport is a living, personal document that captures how someone prefers to work, what adjustments help them perform at their best, and how teams can support them effectively.
It’s designed for people with a wide range of needs - including but not limited to:
-
Long-term health conditions or disability
-
Neurodiversity
-
Caring responsibilities
-
Personal working styles or preferences
Rather than a one-and-done form, the Passport is meant to evolve and be revisited: when someone moves teams, changes roles, or their needs shift over time.
And most importantly, it’s a conversation starter - helping people and managers talk openly about support in a way that’s positive, productive and tailored.
Why It Matters
Workplaces that really work for people are ones where understanding and adjustment aren’t hidden or awkward conversations. The Accessibility Passport helps:
-
Create consistency in how individuals are supported
-
Reduce the need to repeat personal needs again and again
-
Ensure adjustments stay relevant over time
-
Build trust and confidence across teams
For YBS, this tool has become part of a bigger commitment to inclusion - not just meeting standards, but genuinely helping people do their best work, every day.
Sharing What We’ve Built
On 5 February, we joined colleagues from YBS and accessibility advocates from across sectors to launch the Passport officially.
Together, we talked about:
-
How the Passport sparks open, inclusive discussions
-
Practical tips for embedding it into everyday working life
-
Ways organisations can support managers and employees with the tool
It was a great example of what’s possible when organisations invest in people - and in dialogue.
Download the Accessibility Passport
We’re firm believers that accessibility shouldn’t be locked behind forms or barriers.
That’s why you can download the Accessibility Passport template for free.
Guidance and Support Materials
Alongside the Passport itself, we’ve created a detailed guidance document to help teams:
-
Introduce the Passport internally
-
Use it in real conversations
-
Support uptake across the business
Need Something Bespoke?
If you’d like a branded version of the Accessibility Passport and guidance document, tailored to your organisation, we’d love to help.
We can adapt the materials to reflect your brand, culture and internal processes — making it easy to embed them into your workplace.
