This year we’re celebrating Pride in solidarity with our non white and trans communities
June is Pride month - and it’s the time of year when we usually celebrate the forward steps we've taken towards equality and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people, and look at what we can do to advance the cause further.
This year - in 2020 - the celebrations will probably look a little different for obvious reasons. But that won’t get in the way of our support for the movement, especially as we’re also in solidarity with our non white and trans communities this time around.
Many Pride events will be taking place online this year, and we encourage you to get involved wherever you can. And if you’re able to donate too, here’s a list of brilliant causes that we’re supporting…
UK Black Pride
UK Black Pride celebrates LGBTQ people of colour in the UK, organises community outreach projects, and runs hardship funds. Find out more here.
Albert Kennedy Trust
The Albert Kennedy Trust helps young LGBT people who are made homeless or living in a hostile environment by providing housing and services to help them live independently. Please take a look at the work they’re doing and help out where you can here.
Mermaids supports the families of children and young people who are experiencing gender identity issues. It offers information, support, friendship and the opportunity to share experiences, and you can read more and donate here.
The Black Curriculum
The Black Curriculum is a social enterprise that was founded in 2019 to address the lack of Black British history in the UK Curriculum. They’re leading the movement around social change by delivering arts focused Black history programmes and providing teacher training and campaigning that mobilises young people. Check out their website and find out how to support them here.
